Shops serving Fort Collins

Mold in Fort Collins homes usually follows water that sat: a basement that seeped after snowmelt, a crawlspace with no ground cover, a bathroom without a working fan, or a leak inside a wall in an older rental. The EPA's guidance holds here: dry wet materials within 24 to 48 hours and mold usually will not grow, and fix the moisture before paying for removal. This page lists shops that publicly offer mold remediation for Fort Collins. It is not medical advice and not a lab. Ask who writes the removal plan, what containment looks like, and who checks the work afterward.

What to check before you hire

Moisture source in writing

A good scope names what caused the mold and who will fix it. Removal without moisture control usually comes back.

Containment for real

Expect plastic barriers, negative air, and bagged debris for anything beyond a small patch. Paint or a fogger over growth is not remediation.

IICRC AMRT

Ask whether the crew holds Applied Microbial Remediation Technician credentials. The list shows AMRT where a shop publishes it.

Independent clearance

Have someone who did not sell the removal check the area before walls are closed up.

Cost bands, not quotes

These are published industry ranges, labeled as estimates. A shop has to see the loss before anyone can price your house.

Inspection

HomeAdvisor's national data puts a professional mold inspection at about $300 to $1,075, averaging around $690. Lab samples can add to that.

Removal

Fixr's national guide puts remediation at about $10 to $30 per square foot of affected material. Use the cost calculator for a range for your job.

Fort Collins questions

I rent near campus and found mold. Who fixes it?

Report it to your landlord in writing with photos. Colorado's 2019 tenant health and safety law added mold associated with dampness to the conditions that can make a rental uninhabitable, with landlord response duties. See the guide on mold in an apartment.

Should I test before calling a remediator?

The EPA says sampling is usually unnecessary when mold is visible. Testing helps when growth is hidden, before a purchase, or as clearance after removal.

Does homeowners insurance cover mold?

Usually only when the mold resulted from a covered sudden event such as a burst pipe. Mold from long-term humidity is usually excluded. See the mold insurance guide.
